Abstract

A new method for the assignment of the spin of nuclear levels is described, which is based on a statistical analysis of γ-ray transitions. The results for the almost 200 levels of four nuclides studied so far, agree very well with the spins assigned on the basis of “strong arguments”. For II levels the present method yields more precise information.
