Abstract

A Monte Carlo study of acceptance and combinatorial background for electron pairs has been done, showing the feasibility of electron pair spectroscopy in the mass range 0.2 GeV/c2 ≤ Mee ≤ 1 − 2 GeV/c2 for high-energy nucleus-nucleus collisions. The design of the electron spectrometer for HELIOS is presented.
