Abstract

The decay of 79–82Ga and 79–82Ge has been investigated at the OSIRIS fission product mass separator. In 79, 81Ge, two β-decaying isomers were observed, as expected from systematics. In the other investigated nuclei, only one β-decaying state was observed. Level schemes have been obtained for 79–82Ge and 79–82As, and the half-life of the second excited state in 81Ge has been measured. The results are compared to experimental data for other nuclei in the same region. A shift in the relative position of the p12 and g92 states is observed for the N = 49 nuclei, but not for the N = 47 nuclei. The presence of positive-parity intruder states at low energy is demonstrated in81Ge.
