A study of the (d, α) reaction in 56Fe at 12 MeV

Abstract

The (d, α) reaction in 56Fe is studied at Ed = 12 MeV and angular distributions of the α-particles are obtained over the angular range 13°–83° (c.m.s.); the results are analysed in terms of the DWBA theory of direct reactions using the two-nucleon pick-up mechanism of Glendenning. Spectroscopic information on 54Mn levels up to 4.3 MeV excitation is obtained.
