Abstract

High-spin levels in 185Au have been populated via the 175Lu(16O, 6n), 170Yb(19F, 4n) and 165Ho(24Mg, 4n) reactions. Rotation-aligned bands built on proton states originating from the h112, h92 and i132 sub-shells have been identified. These collective structures ar interpreted within the framework of the “quasiparticle + triaxial rotor” model of Meyer-ter-Vehn. A more realistic model has also been used which couples all the quasiparticle states lying near the Fermi surface with an axially symmetric soft core, the Coriolis interaction being exactly solved.
