Abstract

Cross sections for (α, n) reactions on 59Co, 63Cu, and 65Cu have been measured from thresholds to beyond the (α, 2n) thresholds. In addition, 35Cl(α, n)38K and 35Cl(α, n)38mK cross sections have been measured from threshold to 12 MeV. Predictions of the Hauser-Feshbach model with the α-potential of McFadden and Satchler agree well with the data. This α-potential provides better fits, not only for these four reactions but for sixteen other α-induced reactions measured previously, than do the potentials of Igo or of Michaud and Fowler.
