Abstract

New results on the observation of monoenergetic electron-positron pairs in heavy ion collisions are reported. They indicate the creation of neutral particles in the strong Coulomb fields with masses of between 1.5 and 1.8 MeV/c2, which decay into e+−e pairs. First results of the search for production of such particles in resonant Bhabha scattering are also discussed.
