Abstract

The energies and relative intensities of the gamma radiations following the decay of 57Ni to 57Co have been measured using a lithium drifted germanium detector. Gamma rays of the following energies in keV were observed (relative intensities in parentheses): 3177.3(0.021); 3151(0.010); 2805.1(0.088); 2731(0.015); 1919.9(22.4); 1758.2(9.5); 1378.0(100) and 127.6(17.6). Upper limits for relative intensities of other possible gamma rays are given. Spin and parity assignments for levels in 57Co were made. No evidence was found for earlier reported levels at 1.46 MeV, 1.59 MeV and 2.62 MeV. The total disintegration energy of 57Ni is calculated to be 3246 ± 9 keV.
