2008, Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research, Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated EquipmentCitation Excerpt :This paper describes the BCC with an active cathode to improve the energy threshold for the fragment spectrum measurement, and its application in measuring the fragment production cross-sections in proton-induced reactions from tens of MeV that are of great interest from the viewpoint of radiation effects. A BCC is a parallel plate ionization chamber with a Frisch grid placed in front of the anode to shield it from the electric field between the cathode and the grid (Fig. 1) [5–21]. The chamber has a thin entrance window that allows an incident fragment to pass through.
