Abstract

The design of Time Projection Chamber (TPC) detectors as tracking devices for the mid-rapidity spectrometer of the Broad Range Hadron Magnetic Spectrometers (BRAHMS) for use at the RHIC facility is presented. BRAHMS will provide the capabilities of measuring inclusive and semi-inclusive momentum spectra of π±, K± p± in the pseudorapidity range of 0 < η < 4 with good particle identification for pt up to 1.5 GeVc at all pseudorapidities and to at least 2.5 GeV/c for η < 3.
