Abstract

Quasi-free K⁺ photo-production in the ¹²C(γ, K⁺) reaction has been investigated in a photon energy range of 0.7–1.1 GeV. Differential cross sections for the quasi-free process of the ¹²C(γ, K⁺) reaction have been obtained and they are compared with a calculation of a quasi-free K⁺ photo-production. The effective proton number Z_eff = 4.2 ± 0.6 obtained from the experiment was in good agreement with a calculation of a semi-classical attenuation model.

Photoproduction of hypernuclei within the quark-meson coupling model

We study the photoproduction of the ¹²_ΛB hypernucleus within a fully covariant effective Lagrangian based model, employing Λ bound state spinors derived from the latest quark–meson coupling model. The kaon production vertex is described via creation, propagation and decay of $N^{*} (1650)$ , $N^{*} (1710)$ , and $N^{*} (1720)$ intermediate baryonic resonant states in the initial collision of the photon with a target proton in the incident channel. The parameters of the resonance vertices are fixed by describing the total and differential cross section data on the elementary $γ p \to Λ K^{+}$ reaction in the energy regime relevant to the hypernuclear production. It is found that the hypernuclear production cross sections calculated with the quark model based hyperon bound state spinors differ significantly from those obtained with the phenomenological Dirac single particle wave functions.
Photonuclear K<sup>+</sup> production calculation near threshold

Photonuclear kaon production near threshold is investigated as a function of incident energy and the target-nucleus mass, by using the intranuclear cascade model. The present calculation shows that the residual nuclei produced in coincidence with kaons are hotter than those obtained by averaging the excitation energy over inclusive γ-nucleus events. We note that the experimental differential cross section for ¹²C(γ,K⁺) is well reproduced within the present model.
