Abstract

The decay of 72Zn has been studied using high-resolution spectroscopic techniques for conversion electrons and gamma rays. Gamma transitions of energies 16.4, 41.9, 46.8, 79.4, 88.7, 102.8, 112.1, 147.7 and 191.5 keV were established. The 88.7 keV transition was found to feed the 102.8 keV isomeric transition of 37 msec 72mGa. The isomeric level probably has Jπ = 0+. A consistent decay scheme including all available information is proposed.
