The Mmachc gene is required for pre-implantation embryogenesis in the mouse
2014, Molecular Genetics and MetabolismCitation Excerpt :However, we observed significant transmission ratio distortion of the MmachcGt allele on the C57/129 genetic background, and this distortion was not apparent when the CD1 mixed genetic background was introduced. Mmachc maps to distal mouse chromosome 4 in a region that is not imprinted but was reported to show transmission ratio distortion in crosses between C57Bl/6J and Mus spretus, with the M. spretus allele being selected over the maternal C57Bl/6J [4]. It is interesting to note that Shb, a non-related gene 23 cM from Mmachc, was shown to preferentially ovulate Shb− oocytes, which results in increased numbers of Shb+/− mice, and reduced numbers of Shb+/+ mice [11].
Characterization of human crossover interference
2000, American Journal of Human GeneticsCitation Excerpt :Several groups (Haines et al. 1993; Kwiatkowski et al. 1993; McInnis et al. 1993; Weber et al. 1993; Zahn and Kwiatkowski 1995) have shown that the distribution of the number of crossovers per chromosome differs significantly from that which is expected under the assumption of no interference. Similar observations have been made in mice (see, for example, Blank et al. 1988; Ceci et al. 1989; Kingsley et al. 1989). In copies of human chromosome 19 with exactly two recombination events, the distribution of the genetic distance between crossovers showed spacing that was more distant than that which would be expected in the absence of interference (Weber et al. 1993).
