Celebrating 50+ years of research on the reproductive biology and endocrinology of the green frog: An overview
2020, General and Comparative EndocrinologyCitation Excerpt :It was suggested that E2 might intervene in the interruption of the reproductive processes, since its increase in late spring could inhibit the androgen biosynthesis (Polzonetti Magni et al., 1984; Varriale et al., 1986). The levels of P increased in the autumn, winter, and spring (Fasano et al., 1989a; Gobbetti et al., 1991). As in females, the plasma GH and PRL profiles of male frogs is closely related to the annual reproductive cycle (Mosconi et al., 1994a).
