Fat and phosphorylation - the role of covalent enzyme modification in lipid synthesis

Abstract

The rapid effects of certain hormones on lipid synthesis can be explained by changes in the phosphorylation state of several key regulatory enzymes. This system provides an elegant example of the interplay between covalent modification and allosteric regulation.
