Abstract
SYNTHETIC peptides prepared by Hofmann and associates1 containing 8, 10 or 13 amino-acids identical in sequence with the N-terminal portion of corticotropin were tested for adipokinetic activity because corticotropin was known to have this activity2–4. The tridecapeptides caused the release of free fatty acids by adipose tissue; the decapeptides were also active but less potent, but the octapeptide had no effect in the amounts tested.
