Mutagenic Effect of Irradiated and Unirradiated DNA in Drosophila

Abstract

THE treatment of food with ionizing radiation is known to be an effective means of prolonging the useful storage-life of food. However, in view of the possible health hazards which might be involved in the treatment of food with ionizing radiation, a wrorking party, appointed by the Ministry of Health, has evaluated the possible dangers, and the controls required, in the use of ionizing radiation for this purpose1.
