Conclusion
The strong raise in histamine content during the first day of experimental hydronephrosis seemed to induce a slow increase of histamine methyltransferase activity, the only histamine metabolizing enzyme in rabbit kidney [4]. This process of adaptation can be interpreted as a defence mechanism against the formation and the release of high amounts of histamine.
