Summary
In this work the action of penicillin and UV-light on the cytoplasmic endosymbionts present in 6 different stocks ofEuplotes crassus is investigated and their different levels of sensitivity to these forms of treatment are analyzed. The loss of endosymbionts does not appear to hamper the survival ofEuplotes or to reduce their fission rate.
