Summary
A new polybrominated diphenyl ether (1) has been isolated from the green algaCladaphora fascicularis, and the structure was determined by spectral analysis and conversion to known compounds. It showed antibacterial and antiinflammatory activities.

Compound1 was isolated as a minor constituent of the digestive gland extract of the sea hare. This isolation was carried out by Mr Tsutomu Yoshida of Department of Marine Sciences.
