The domain of penetration of Rayleigh waves in Lamb's problem

  • Published:
pure and applied geophysics Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Summary

The aim of this work is to examine the critical loci which govern the limits to the depths to which a Rayleigh wave can penetrate into a Half-space. Both interior and surface sources are considered. The corresponding critical regions for the existence of these waves play a vital role in more complicated problems such as the calculation of the reflection and transmission coefficients of Rayleigh waves in a wedge.
