Electron-electron interaction in fast ion-atom collisions

Abstract

Electron correlation observed in ion-atom collisions involving inner-shell processes is discussed in brief. In particular, correlated double ionization of selected molecular orbitals is proposed in order to explain unusual behaviour of impact-parameter-dependent probabilities for vacancy production. Moreover, among transfer and excitation processes some evidence for a correlated three-electron process is emphasized.
