Abstract
We report here experimental results of low-frequency Raman scattering and photoluminescence of Cd-chalcogenide (CdS and CdSe) microcrystals embedded in a germanium dioxide glass matrix. From the feature of the low-frequency Raman scattering, we discussed the confined acoustic phonon in a microcrystal. We show that the emission from surface defect state located in the lower energy side of the photoluminescence spectra have the anomalous dependence on the temperature.
