Conclusions
-
1.
It is suggested to extend the requirement of SNiP concerning the conduction of hydraulic tests of steel penstocks to penstocks embedded in rock or concrete.
-
2.
Embedded penstocks should be tested after concreting. It is necessary to examine the steel shell from the inside immediately after emptying.
-
3.
It is recommended to use a test pressure not less than the design pressure.
-
4.
It is necessary to find a grouting method that does not disturb the soundness of the penstock shell.
