122. Functionalization of C17 center of 20-ketosteroids by reductive splitting of 16α,17α-cyclopropane ring

Conclusions

In eductive splitting of 16α,17α-cyclopropano-20-ketopregnanes with lithium in liquid ammonia, followed by an action of electrophilic reagents on the 20-enolate formed, a regio- and stereospecific functionalization of the C17 center takes place.
