Abstract

Dehydration of gypsum (which is anS→ S′+G type reaction whereS′ is a nonstoichiometric solid) was investigated by means of a reactor in a fluidized bed. The special shape of the isothermal curves shows that a divariant equilibrium is present in the case of the CaSO4-H2Og system. One can interpret the influence of the amount of starting material in the reactor, and the effects of fluidization and temperature for this type of reaction.
