Abstract
In152Gd(α,8n) and136Ce(16O,4n) reaction studies a 48O ns 10+ isomer in148Dy has teen identified, and its decay has been characterized. All members of the πh 2/211 level spectrum have been located, and the 10+ → 8+ B(E2) value gives the πh 2/211 effective charge as 1.53 e. The 2+ and 3− level energies in148Dy82 provide supporting evidence for a shell closure at Z=64.
