Summary
The similarity in structure of the flagellum, star body, kinetosome, proximal and distal kinetosome bridges, and the girdling bands of microtubules in the somatic cells of Volvox carteri and the vegetative cells of Chlamydomonas suggests, on an ultrastructural basis, the interrelated nature of Volvox and Chlamydomonas.
