Summary
After the administration of repeated high doses of chicken protein, rabbits developed extensive fibroses of the bone marrow after 4–6 weeks (in appr. 75%). In addition to this, they also show neogenesis of bone, partly as deposits on the trabeculae of the spongiosa and partly in the bone marrow (appr. 50%). With simultaneous administration of prednisolone acetate small, spotty fibroses in the hypoplastic marrow can only be recognized in approximately 40% of the cases. The course of the experiment could not be affected by antiphlogistic agents (phenylbutazone, oxyphenbutazone and benzydamine).
