Abstract
Statistical properties of velocity gradient components in turbulent channel flows were measured using a new light scattering technique. It is demonstrated that root mean square fluctuations, skewnesses, and flatnesses as well as autocorrelation functions and distribution functions of definite velocity gradient components can be obtained.
