Summary
Nasal polyps were studied histologically and histochemically. The presence of mucopolysaccharides in the polyp's ground substance depends on changes of metabolism (shift from an oxybiotic to an anoxybiotic type), on the dilution effect of edema, and on spacial structure of the polyp. In this way, contradictory results of earlier studies can easily be reconciled.
