  1. Nach C. Mitscherlich (Handb. der Arzneimittellehre 1840. Bd. I. S. 454) enthält die Wurzel von latropha manihot ein flüchtiges Gift. Diess dürfte doch auch in Anschlag zu bringen sein, zumal wenn man sich erinnert, dass die Indianer nur das frische Gift für wirksam halten.
