Abstract
The fraction of the total available energy carried by photons and the fraction carried by neutral particles of all types ine + e − multihadron final states have been measured at three centre-of-mass energies between 12 and 35 GeV. These fractions are approximately 27% and 37% with no strong dependence on centre-of-mass energy and the event topology. The neutrino energy fraction is estimated to be less than 10% at the 95% confidence level.

At 30 and 35 GeV centre-of-mass energy theK O L (andK O s ) energy spectrum and multiplicity are taken from the data of R.Brandelik et al.: Phys. Lett.94B, 91 (1980) and Phys. Lett.94B, 444 (1980), with the assumption charged and neutral kaons have the same inclusive cross section. For 12 GeV centre-of-mass energy the kaon spectrum is taken to have the same shape below 1.1 GeV kaon energy as at 30 GeV in the centre-of-mass. The spectrum of the more energetic kaons is taken to scale with centre-of-mass energy. The multiplicity of kaons at 12 GeV is estimated with the help of the SPEAR data of V. Lüth et al.: Phys. Lett.70B, 120 (1977) and the assumption that the multiplicity rises linearly in the logarithm of the centre-of-mass energy. The Cerenkov light created byK O L -nucleus interactions is estimated from the data of [4]
R.Brandelik et al.: Phys. Lett.94B, 444 (1980). The exponential slope of the invariant cross sections forp, p, n, and 320-1 production is estimated to be 4.1 GeV−1 at 12 GeV and 2.4 GeV−1 at the higher energies. The JADE detector is used to measure the number of 320-2 (JADE collaboration, to be published)
The multiplicity of Λ's in the 30 and 35 GeV data has been measured by JADE (to be published). For 12 GeV, at which data are not yet available, we interpolate between the JADE measurement and the SPEAR data of G.S.Abrams et al.: Phys. Rev. Lett.44, 10 (1980). The energy spectrum is taken to be the same as that of protons at each centre-of-mass energy
