Summary
Two cases of acute hydrocephalus 34 and 27 years after hemispherectomy are presented. Both were examined by intracranial pressure recordings and treated with shunting procedures. The recordings gave evidence of raised baseline values of intracranial pressure and showed pathological B-wave activity in over 80% of the recording time.
The problem of free communication between the different compartments after hemispherectomy and different surgical approaches to solve the problem are discussed. Open surgery is not advocated.
