Die kongenitale oculomotorische Apraxie Cogan

Summary

This is a report on congenital oculomotor apraxia Cogan and its pathophysiology based on all the cases hitherto published. From the evaluation of the information available on this disorder, it is concluded that the interpretation of the oculomotor disturbances by most authors is to be challenged. In contrast to the former assumption of a disturbance of cortical and, in particular, frontal oculomotor centers, this disorder may well be explained by a pathology within certain parts of the pons and mesencephalon as well as the cerebellum or by a disturbance of their mutual interconnections. The classical symptoms of this disorder are documented on the basis of a case observed personally.
