A procedure is described for the location of light atoms, particularly hydrogen, by means of a weighted difference synthesis, in which the weight is taken to be the scattering factor of the light atom which is sought. This convolution technique is illustrated in applications to the structures of an amine hydrochloride, C20H27N. HCI, and a complex borohydride, Mg(B6H9)2.2C4H8O.
