Abstract

The behaviour of epoxy-polyamine protective coatings under conditions of cathodic protection has been investigated. The coatings slowly lose their barrier properties so far as ions are concerned. This appears to be due to the generation of a high pH at the coating metal substrate and the formation of aqueous channels which penetrate from the aqueous solution to the metal.
