Recent advances in extraction of bioactive compounds from tobacco industrial waste-a review
2020, Industrial Crops and ProductsCitation Excerpt :The major sterols in tobacco leaves are cholesterol, campesterol, stigmasterol and β-sistosterol and the are present in amount from 0.1% to 0.3% of tobacco leaves dry weight (Leffingwell, 1999). Severson et al. (1978) developed tobacco sterols in different part of tobacco plant. They found that sterols were present in all tobacco plant parts but their level in the stalk and flowers was significantly lower.
