Abstract

We investigate Ni (111) at 300 K by angle resolved photoemission. For the reduced surface wave vector parallel to [112] we observe well resolved doublets for photon energies ω = 7.7, 10.2 and 11.6 eV, provided the light is polarized along [110]. The exchange splitting of the Ni 3d-band close to EF determined from these doublets is Δx = (0.33 ± 0.02) eV.
