Abstract

The three birefringences of NaNO2 single crystals (nb-na, (nc-nb) and (nc-na), were measured as functions of wavelength, from 0.4 μ to 2 μ. They were also observed as functions of temperature from room temperature to 190°C, showing a discontinuous change in slope at the 163°C Curie point.
