Although Co2FeO4 ferrite stabilizes in normal spinel structure [9,10], Mössbauer [11] and Neutron diffraction study [12] revealed a mixed spinel structure. Previous work [13] showed single phased spinel structure of Co2FeO4 by air annealing the mechanical alloyed sample at ∼900 °C.

Mössbauer spectroscopy and magnetic measurements were already done on iron cobaltites [13,16,20,23,24]. Cationic distributions were proposed from these works.
