Abstract

Laser action on six rotational transitions grouped in pairs near 452, 496 and 541 μm has been observed in methyl fluoride gas which is optically pumped by a Q-switched CO2 laser. Absolute frequency measurements have enabled us to obtain both a complete identification of the transitions and accurate rotational constants for the V3 vibrational state of the CH3F molecule.
