Abstract

A magic-angle (α = 23π √ 2) type double-focusing spectrometer (r0 = 65 cm) is described. This instrument is used for electron scattering experiments with the Amsterdam 85 MeV linear electron accelerator and permits high resolution measurements (0.1%) at a large solid angle (6 mster). Scattered electrons having a momentum spread of 3% can be detected simultaneously.
