Abstract

This paper describes a new program, ANANKÉ, to be used to correct experimental neutron elastic angular distributions. This program performs a classical Monte Carlo simulation but the treatment of the generated information is quite different from the previous ones: we have defined a new type of “density detections” the use of which allows a considerable gain of computation time. The statistical uncertainty introduced by simulation is evaluated taking into account the correlation between the different simulated variables. This uncertainty appears to be very small. The program has been used to correct angular distributions of 6.4 MeV neutrons scattered by 209Bi, 127I, 75As, 59Co, 31P and 12C, and proved to be very fast.
