Precision of curved crystal spectrometers I. Large angle laser interferometer

Abstract

A laser interferometer for large range (±20°) angular measurements to be used with the crystal spectrometer of the University of Fribourg has been developed from an industrial linear measurement system. The precision varies between 3 and 22 marcsec over the angular range. This corresponds to relative precisions of 0.29 to 0.83 ppm. Construction, operation and theory are presented.
