Monte-Carlo calculations of the energy resolution function with Geant4 for analyzing the neutron capture cross section of 232Th measured at CSNS Back-n
2021, Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research, Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated EquipmentCitation Excerpt :A couple of distinct types of analytical ERFs [13–17] have been designed to describe different experimental setups. The ORR [12,15] and the RPI resolution function [12,17] are popular ones. The RPI resolution function was initially used to analyze the data from the LINAC at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and has been expanded to include the features of GELINA [16,18] and n_TOF [17,19].

2018, Progress in Particle and Nuclear PhysicsCitation Excerpt :While the contribution of Doppler broadening related to the sample temperature is usually well known, an accurate resolution function can only be obtained from simulations and needs to be verified with some well known resonances. Typical examples are the resolution functions for the time-of-flight facilities ORELA [35], LANSCE [36], GELINA [37], nELBE [38], JPARC-MLF [39], and n_TOF [40]. For electron-beam machines, which are operating at energies below the creation threshold of particles other than nucleons or gammas, a shadow bar is sometimes used to screen the production target from the flight path, like for example at GELINA [42] or ORELA [43].

2013, Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research, Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and AtomsCitation Excerpt :The resonance parameter files were verified and a final adjustment in the whole resonance region was made by a simultaneous analysis with REFIT using the GELINA data together with the transmission and capture data of Frankle et al. [3]. An analytical response function for ORELA, based on the work of Koehler et al. [59] and Coceva et al. [60], was used. In the analysis the flight path length for the ORELA data was adjusted to match the resonance energies of GELINA.
