Abstract

The angular distribution of the inelastically scattered particles following Coulomb excitation is calculated for electric quadrupole transitions. The quantum mechanical calculations are performed for the case of finite energy loss and a comparison is made between the semi-classical and quantum mechanical angular distributions.
