Abstract

The properties of a recirculating gas target for the measurement of short-lived β-decays are investigated. It is found that flow velocity and recirculation time can be adjusted to obtain good background elimination. The decay curve and energy spectrum of the 0- (120 keV) state of 16N (T12 = 5.25 μs) are presented.
