Abstract

Possibilities to improve high energy electromagnetic calorimetry by means of suitable calorimeter segmentation are discussed. Some resulting improvements are examined concerning spatial resolution, photon-π0 separation, electron-hadron separation and energy resolution as far as dominated by rear leakage. One way to realize such a calorimeter is discussed by a specific example.
