Channel-dependent sharing of the excitation energy in quasielastic reactions between 208Pb+86Kr

Abstract

Energy spectra of quasielastic reaction products formed in 86Kr bombardment of 208Pb at various beam energies show broad structures that are shown to originate from sequential neutron emission following one- or few-nucleon transfer. A Monte Carlo simulation of the decay process is used to obtain information on the excitation energy sharing for primary fragments. Strong evidence is found for a channel-dependent sharing of the excitation energy among the reaction partners.
